Close to big cities yet far away from the stress and noise, our farmstead is a country-chic haven that allows you to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. At Blind Buck Valley Farmstead, guests enjoy a relaxing stay on a beautiful 180-acre private property in Washington County.
Surrounded by natural beauty and picturesque views, our renovated 18th century farmhouse is your home away from home. Open and spacious, it boasts five antique-appointed bedrooms, two full, renovated bathrooms, ample living space, modern kitchen, and a gorgeous sun room with views of the hills from three directions.
In the spring through fall, the backyard is the ultimate hangout spot, perfect for large groups. It boasts a deck with lounge seating area and spa jacuzzi (open year-round), fire pit, gas grill, and in-ground, heated, salt-water swimming pool open May 1st through mid-October.
Kids of all ages love to interact with our animals. Our farmstead is home to goats, chickens, rabbits and a couple of friendly barn cats. During spring through summer we become home to cows and their calves, horses, and ponies who pasture with us during the warmer months. Guests love to take guided tours where they can learn about life on the farm while feeding and cuddling our friendly animals.
Most of all, our guests love to visit the chicken coop to collect their own farm-fresh eggs for breakfast. We also gift each guest with a ½ dozen to enjoy, as a special thank you for choosing our farmstead.
Things to Do in Salem, NY – Just Minutes from the Farmstead
There is so much to enjoy in the surrounding area, whether you’re walking, biking or driving within 10-15 minutes! Check out different things to do in Salem, NY, including the Farmer’s Market and other fun local events.
Relax with a cold one at family-friendly R.S. Taylor’s Brewery. Treat the kiddos to a delicious all-natural, homemade ice cream cone made by award-winning Battenkill Creamery. Walk or bike to the village of Salem to visit local shops on Main Street or take in a performance at the famed Ft. Salem Theater.
Feeling adventurous? Tube or kayak down the Battenkill River. Find hidden treasures at numerous antique shops around town or visit the beautiful greenhouse at Gardenworks farm to pick your own blueberries. Visiting in the Spring? Make sure to take part in Maple Sugar weekends, where guests can tour over ten local sugar houses and sample delicious maple syrup, maple candy and other sweets made locally.

Take a day trip off the farmstead to experience all that the area has to offer. Saratoga Springs and Lake George, NY are less than 45 minutes away where you can participate in family-friendly activities as well as play a round of golf, visit spas, vineyards, and outlet shops.
Head to Bromley Mountain or Stratton Mountain Ski Resort in which offer activities year-round in nearby Vermont. Enjoy zip lining, hiking, tubing, skiing and snowboarding. Manchester boasts delicious restaurants and shopping at the designer outlets.

Our farmstead is perfectly located near a number of fun family activities and events to enjoy year-round. Below is a list of our guests’ favorite things to do in each season.
Spring at the Farm
Relax on our deck with a cup of coffee and watch our new annuals and perennials blossom in the Spring. Hike the property, visit our goats, or walk the 3.2 miles in a loop that takes in the hamlet of Salem, featuring Washington County’s first school, antique shops, the historic jail turned Community Center and scenic country roads.
During the Spring, Washington County is a sweet place to visit thanks to the infamous Maple Sugar Weekends! Fun Fact: Upstate NY is one of the largest producers of maple sugar. Visitors can tour over 10+ maple sugar farms nearby and enjoy maple tastings and treats. If you’re in the mood for a yummy way to start your day, stop by Dry Brook Sugar House in Salem for their delicious maple sugar pancake breakfast, open from 8am-2pm.

Summer at the Farm
During the summer, our backyard is your oasis for endless fun. Grill, take a dip in the pool or a soak in the relaxing hot tub. There is ample lawn space for all of your favorite outdoor games.
Summer nights are perfect for s’mores and marshmallow roasting by the fire while you gaze up at a sky-filled with stars.
Grab a cold one at family-friendly R.S. Taylor’s Brewery or stop for a delicious homemade ice cream cone at Battenkill Creamery. Visit Gardenworks to pick your own delicious blueberries.
Walk through our blooming flower fields or visit Salem’s Farmer’s Market to pick out fresh vegetables and fruit and other local goods. Enjoy a day trip to Saratoga Springs or Lake George where you’ll find Six Flags Great Escape, Lake George Factory Outlets, Saratoga Race Track, Saratoga Performing Arts Center.
In late August, visit the Washington County Fair in Greenwich, NY to experience incredible rides, local fare food and 4-H displays. It’s a one-of-a-kind experience that shows you all of the magic that is Upstate New York.

Fall is a beautiful time at the farmstead! Our area boasts some of the most gorgeous, vibrant red, yellows and orange fall foliage. Visit a local fair or one of the many art and music festivals. Enjoy a cup of apple cider and warm cider donuts.
Sip a glass of wine and enjoy some local cheeses. Apples picking, pumpkin carving, corn mazes, craft fairs… there is so much to enjoy during autumn in Washington County!

Winter at the Farm
There is no site quite like majestic Upstate NY in the winter time. Winter is a special season at the farmstead, featuring a wonderland of snow-covered hills and majestic mountains. Bountiful snowfalls make each winter season an event to remember with numerous activities to enjoy.
Put on your snow suit and spend the day making snowmen and snow angels, snowshoeing, sledding and cross country skiing through the hills and woods. In nearby Vermont, hit the slopes of Bromley Mountain or Stratton Mountain Ski Resorts. After a fun-filled day, enjoy a feast of local food or sip on hot cocoa by the wood burning stove.
